January 14, 2021 (Investorideas.com Newswire) 5% of Germans would favour an investment in cryptocurrency over other assets if they had more money at their disposal. Last year, this figure was just 2%. This can be seen in a new infographic from Kryptoszene.de.
As the infographic indicates, in 2019, 4% of German citizens stated a preference for cryptocurrency investments. A new record was reached in the new year, but Germans nevertheless remain cautious on average, despite recent gains for the best-known digital currency Bitcoin.
Only 2% of Germans hold an investment in Bitcoin. 65% consider cryptocurrencies to be suitable only for speculators, while 66% consider the concept of digital currencies to be too complicated.
Meanwhile, Google data reveals that more and more users are interested in buying Bitcoin. The relative search volume for “buy bitcoin” ranks at a high of 100 in a 12-month review. There are also new record numbers of active addresses, with 105% more BTC addresses active in 2020 than in the previous year.
Bitcoin remains by far the largest cryptocurrency in terms of market capitalization. Nevertheless, the majority of cryptocurrency investors are broadly diversified. Only 8.6% of these investors hold Bitcoin exclusively.
“While last year it was mainly institutional investors who were very interested in cryptocurrencies,” notes Kryptoszene analyst Raphael Lulay, “the recent price rally also seems to be attracting private investors again.”
