A burglary and ensuing car chase took place in an Onslow County town on Wednesday morning.

Police say it started when two people broke into The Geek and the Grammar Queen just off Highway 24 in Swansboro.

Store Owner Leroy Mitchell says the suspects broke in around 5 p.m., and police called him to tell him someone had broken into his store. He says he arrived around 5:15 a.m. and adds that the suspects broke the front window and damaged the store’s Bitcoin machine. He is thankful for the quick work of the police.

“I drove down Hubert Boulevard and saw 25 cop cars,” he said. “They really did a great job today. “

Officials say a state trooper noticed a speeding car and gave chase, and it turned out to be the suspects in this incident.

When the car stopped, authorities say one suspect ran, while the other was arrested. Swansboro Police Chief Jackson says Jerard Nathan Ross is charged with two felony counts of breaking and entering — one for the building, one for the Bitcoin machine.

Police say they have not yet found the second suspect, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Swansboro Police Department.
